Another never ending day in the Hamster treadmill of skiing and life….Arrived earlier this morning to a lineup waiting for the first bucket ride (10 people or so), fairly grey skies off to the southeast early, all the buckets reattached to the cable and running fairly fast got rid of the 3 bucket of folks before I was ready to upload. CHex was running so I went that route for the mellow quiet open air view of the world. Full on Sun and warm temps long before 10am. Screamer fast steep empty groomers early from SnortElk to center line GV (before a race course was set up on it again today) to Little Portillo and Lucky Shot (before the lowest pitch got really soft). Big run in the hamster treadmill was PB slot between Gazex torches 2 and 3 – perfect soft spring from the first run at 10am till the last fading sun on PB. No lift lines, nobody on the slopes. Kinda sticky snow in the flats between REX and FQex kept me from doing that path to many times. Warm temps made for great soft bumps pretty much everywhere. Gandys was again the best rock free path to the bottom of REX – and it was soft even in the shade.
Other – No soup at all at CB lodge, though they did stock up the beer bucket for the weekend with lots of nice choices. No bused showed up today – plenty of space for them. Pay lot was nicely sized and equally not full. A lot might have been ¾ full with lots of wide spacing between rows since nobody was working the morning parking. Rocks are getting bigger (or at least more of them in places). The Valley is in great condition everywhere and from what I saw FQex runs are in good shape. Heard plus and minus conditions reports from folks out South. Nice day…Great? For some folks, Big? probably not, but I got lots of high speed vert and plenty of soft bumps…Fun? Not even a relevant question – its always FUN!

A few notes- West Face stayed icy, Grubstake and Grubstake trees went off, Hamburger was not worth the traverse, Chair 6 front side corned up nicely but was a big pain to get to. Had to take skis off and hike down from the get off. Same with PB skiers right on the ridge. Rolling Knolls was good.
Get it while you can. It won't last long with this heat. ddk hauls ass, Big zoom

Did a few runs off the King- North faces still holding mixed consistency soft snow. SE trees down to Silver very nice around 130- creamy smooth. Admired some great lines down Crystal Peak. These people don't post trip reports. Great pommes frites on top and rode the Gondy down. Not great skiing but great to be up there.
