Another Sunny day at the private Crystal ski area…didn’t look like to many folks from the far north showed up today…5 bucket upload this morning (plus CHex was running for a long time this morning for the bus crowd). Groomers as usual were pretty perfect for Washington and since no one was around they held up pretty nicely all day. PB was great center line and JD skier left side. Soft perfect butter in the sun and pretty perfect chalky snow in the shade. Valley skiing was nice and the bumps off the top of GVex where pretty perfect carving soft. Did some runs on FQex with #1 early, all great – there really should be more of the groomer Blue crowd skiing, conditions are pretty perfect for that crowd. Shady slopes from SnortingElk to West Face to PB all skiing nicely packed something fun. Plenty of soft spring snow on the sunny aspects. Temps were just about right – not to hot and not to cool with light winds. Best line to the bottom of REX right now is Gandy’s – groomed just wide enough, no rocks and not many folks. Skied out to the base again today – was a little more challenging finding the line down low, pretty easy from FQex to Chair 4 area, then hang tight skier right close to the bottom of the new chair and pick your way through the blowing snow guns to the base patio…
Other – Soup at CB lodge was Green Corn Chili?? (what…sounded like pretty thin Gulag quality liguid…probably should do it on St Patty’s day). CB lodge empty when I passed through. Pay lot nice and small, arrived a little early to the front row…3 buses today, spaced out on how full the A B and C lots ended up…but based on folks on the slopes and lift lines I’d guess the parking lots where pretty empty. No traffic, but lots of elk above Greenwater and the Ranch this morning. Looks like nothing but sun at the beach for a while.

The jet stream is well north of Washington. Maybe some precip Monday or Tuesday, but nothing promised. Get it while you can.
