Riding a solo Peak to Peak cabin from Whistler at about 10am I was staring at the 7th Heaven lift in the blazing sun. No high clouds today so I was eager to get there as the snow softened. Ok, maybe in about an hour it would be soft. Then maybe another hour. And it did start to soften but it seems everyone else has the same thought. The lift line grew and grew so I headed over for the Glacier Express to try some of the sunny aspects there. I did find a couple of runs that were softer than glare ice and cycled those the rest of the day. I saw about a half dozen heading up Spanky's and 3 sideslippers on Pakalolo but no one else attempting the double black runs up high. Only full sun aspects had any softening. Coverage up high is very good so there could be some nice spring skiing with warmer temperatures. No lines at any chair except 7th Heaven.
It was a pleasant surprise to see an organized lift line like they set up at Whistler and Blackcomb. Four lines merge into two lines, two lines into one line, then left alternates with right and singles come in right when needed. Surprise, it is not rocket science. Maybe the folks at Crystal should get out more and see how it is done.
The tails of my skis were delaminating so I bagged Wednesday. It seemed slightly warmer at the base so it may have been a better day.
