Check check? Lordy worked the first time? And the wordy report:
What was today like? Glad I went yesterday…today was good (sliding on snow!), the slopes and lift lines were typically empty on this bad snow year, the groomers were…not anywhere to be found on the upper mountain? Did the cat drivers go on strike last night? Since there were no high speed groomer runs off the top today…it ended up being a PB cycle day – still rocks on top, but not to bad, the bowl skied happy and was worth a number of repeats. Filtered sun early, brighter sun at times, a lot more filtered sun when I left. MiddleIceFerkBerg got “just” soft enough to be fun late morning and early afternoon. GV Bowl was a nice lead in to FerkBerg all day. Saw some rocks, but they provided nice turning opportunities.
Other – Soups at CB lodge were Tomato and Tortilla (corn something – looked good). Pay lot was massive again this morning and equally empty when I left. There were 6+ buses….rest of the folks parked below the end of the A lot must have been employees. Fun day as usual. Crystal was set up with the ticket checking gates expecting a crowd – didn’t happen. Hope it does not rain to much in the next few days.

It took some serious poking to find the few good areas. Just enough fun linking them together to not mind the required icy connectors. North Facers had dried and lightened some with these cold nights that made avoiding the ice easier. Tried ddk’s Powder Bowl right and it was the first fun run of the day. But skier’s left, narrow and soft, was even better. Campbell Basin was surprisingly crunchy. We sampled a lot of aspects and kept coming back to Valley Bowl for bump slamming fun. IceRockBerg slightly softened for an hour but only delivered hard slide/slam hits. Overall, the mountain is in terrible shape between the frozen crunch and rocks. Today was a Fun Day® but the upcoming warmth and rain will not be kind.
