Interesting day... I didn't have high expectations heading up, the pass report said 35 and rain.. It was a rain snow mix when i got off the exit, but it was snowing really wet snow at the bottom of alpental at about 32.. Really strange to see the place open with so little snow, it's kind of smart i guess to get some compression on the snow and fill in some of the gaps, i don't think they could get a groomer up armstrong with such low conditions. Overall it's skiable, but pretty easy to hit stuff, very slush snow.. The surprise of the day was that Chair 2 opened up about 11:30, which made me smile. Still not great coverage up there, lots of places where it was thin with a bunch of rocks, but there was a lot of great pow lines to be had, even if the only thing open was edelweiss bowl.. The snow was really heavy, but still a lot of fun to be had... By the time I took off the snow stopped, and the sun was peaking out.. Driving out the temp went up to 37.. Not sure if this place will survive another rain event that's in the forecast.
