Crystal - 01/08 was created by CD
Today was a repeat of the last couple days with a few changes. First, Crystal didn't groom anything on REX or GV. Even though the snow was firm enough for grooming, I suspect the snow is just getting too thin and they wanted to save what little grooming they could do for the week-end. Also, the snow started out firmer this morning in spite of the warm temps, but it didn't take long for it all to soften. Beautiful clear skies and warm temps caused the coats to come off immediately. I usually ski with a helmet, but my head got hot (like Pedro's in Napoleon Dynamite), so I chained up the helmet with the coat as well.
REX Chair line, Breakover, Sunnyside, GV to the high side of Ferkberg on the right side, Grubstake, and chute three off the Campbell Basin side of C6 were all great and required many repeats. A great day of skiing soft moguls all day.
The snow is very thin, but according to Mr. Ferk, not quite as bad as the 2005 season when Crystal actually closed in January. After this week-end, they are probably not far from that. We need snow, and not in inches. A freeze will make the whole mountain brutal until new snow comes in.

Test test can I reply? Finally - tried posting earlier, not gonna happen - here is my version and some other important info.....Another terrible day on the Heavenly Treadmill. Big sun, big views, warmer, less wind, smaller crowd (how is that possible). Big soft, no real grooming today on the upper mountain, but by 9:30 it did not matter and the slushy new pow was really deep by 2pm. More rocks, more brush, bigger bumps, more fun steep fast narrow lines. Great day.
Got to ski a couple rocket runs with my fav female patrol lady – great and fast (glad she thought she was not skiing very well – allowed me to keep up).
Other – Another big day at CB lodge….Chicken Noodle leftovers – great again. Still good skiing in Campbell Basin, more rocks on top of HC, but still okay picking your way off the top. Pay lot fair sized and probably full of non permit folks at the end of the day. Rest of A lot full and that was it. Been a great three day with nearly 90k of slushy fun beach weather….if you don’t have nice new deep packed pow, what the last three days have been is right up there on the happy-oh-meter.

Big soft bumps in the sun, fast zipper lines, rock, sticks, 2 core shots, huge grins. A most fun day. If it’s sunny tomorrow, might get one more day of rock dodging. If it’s cloudy, the snow won’t thaw as even at 48 degrees, the shade stayed an icy mess. Gonna take feet of new to cover the carnage.
