After a one day summit of Mt. Adams on Sunday I decided I would head down to Timberline and make one quick lap of the snowfield to check off September's turns. I camped just down the road from the lodge and headed up to the lodge around 5:30 AM. I was surprised to find the lodge open so I used the locker rooms to dry some wet gear from the previous day. I hit the trail by 6 and after a short walk to the snow at the end of the small creek (name?), skinned up through the park. Tired from the previous day, I transitioned at the top of the snowfield and descended the snowfield, around the park and back down the creek. I was back on the road by 9 and back in Seattle by 1. The short trip and early morning definitely helped in beating some of the Labor Day traffic.
