Yeee Haaa – aaaaahhhhh – woo hoo! All good today finally getting back on snow after a tough two weeks spending time supporting #1…all is good again…and the skiing today was very nice spring. Arrived early, jumped into the first bucket with two other people, thick fog cloud layer down low till we popped out into the sun at the top of MiddleIceFerkberg…Got first tracks down the bowl – somewhat firm bouncy early, but what was groomed was smooth as a babies bottom and soft. Within a half hour lots of other sunny pitches got sweet. Run for me today was Grubstake – big bumps, soft easy dropping no effort fun! Oh so happy. Great happy small crowd of the hard cores having fun, lots of paying customers from other places supporting my addiction. Flats in the valley were getting sticky by noon, steeps and shady slopes nice and fun (West Face, Snortelk bowl – from the top of Grubstake peak, various slopes I like that I don’t know the name of). No real lift line during the morning, but folks still showing up as I was leaving.
Other – no soup report, the A lot was maybe ¾ thinly full (again lots of walkers doing the Gondy). Chair 4 towers have all been dropped, apparently the tree cutting for the new lift is well under way. Was told that all the chairs are now off HC and the activity during the week over there is intense. Not much snow below the bottom of REX, but south looked real nice when I downloaded the bucket. PB looked perfect. Great day to finally be on snow again in what I call my “happy place”.
