Crystal - 05/10

Aaaahhhh….another spring powder day at Crystal. Jumped into the number 2 position for the Bucket ride way to early, fair lineup at 8:30 of hardcore hounds and hamsters. Got first track down a very nice spring deep smooth GV bowl and heard lots of hoots and yells from happy folks while I was riding up GV chair. Info was to wait for the front side till after 9am, which was okay since it allowed a number of fun GrubStake Tree runs. Finally dropped MiddleIceFerkBerg to the base via Stump and Skid, all very untracked and pretty hamster nice, skied all the way to the grass area in front of the lodge ( by my last run there was not much snow left around the base lodge, but the ski down was still very okay). Did a number of Memorial and Frontside runs with a new acquaintance ( James a snowboarder – I don’t hold that against him since it was neck and neck to the base a number of times and the conversation in the bucket was great). Folks kept showing up all morning, but the best for me was over by noon. Any place untracked (or had enough big left over untracked slots) was pretty spring sweet – the Coombas loved it. Any place that had a little too many deep trench digging turns was getting a little more challenging. Started snowing during the late 11 o’clock hour and since today is my Mother-in-law social I bailed out at noon with lots of snow falling to the base. Another fun hamster spring day, got way more than my minimum required vert for a fun spring powder day.

Other – no clue on foods or soups. The A lot was maybe pushing ¾ loosely full (plenty of tourists). Sounds like tomorrow might be sunnier, but I’m off to Blackcomb for some big skiing. Have a great week.

Glad to hear the 10 of new wasn't too schmooey and the vis not too inverted. Enjoy the poutine north of the border for us while yr up there!
