Crystal - 04/04 was created by ddk
Very late report do to chores and I was waiting for a Fireman report first – but the short version of today – new snow, very nice, no crowds, fun, heard from the Ferd and the Fireman that NW was multi run untracked and great and guess what? I got sloppy seconds! Another earth shattering day.  So for speed readers or folks with nothing to do here is the long winded wordy report - Just noticed the 04/04 thing.

Yee Haa, Wooo Hooo! Just another endless powder day (sorry Keith, aka Grumpy), yes it was another pow day at Crystal in the never ending season – till the 20th anyway of Cascade Powder. Only two more Fridays to ski with a lift at Crystal and today was unexpectedly nice.  Most of the new happened early morning, no real groomers today since they had 4+ new covering the corduroy ( rode with a guy complaining about that early this morning?). Will say that the new probably made the groomers more challenging for the blue crowd, but there were not a lot of them, actually there were not a lot of anybody’s.  Started out casual with some Lucky and MiddleIceFergBerg runs – including a very nice GV Bowl.  Poked into SnortElk and the Valley with Ms Ferk – all pretty fun with lots of untracked deep lines (especially Anns area! – that was good for a very long time).  Heard lots of folks telling me about NW being open – by now you know me, I waited and waited and went and checked for the soup of the day – lordy the Ched Broc will never run out – but managed to get a Seira Pale Ale and a even better Macadamia nut White Chocolate cookie!  Great lunch combo!  After lunch headed out to check NW for those folks, went door 4 (or gate), very nice. NW was nice, but it was amazing that the small crowd managed to cut up pretty much everything visible.  Planned on leaving after the 20 minute mentally challenging chair ride, but close to the top – big nice sun hole, saw an untracked pow line through the trees skier right of Flying F – narrow, steep and oh so sweet with the sun back light. It was fun. Looked good on the next chair ride up – but the hamster mode kicked in.  So skied untracked lines out Kellys gap and Lower E – pretty nice soft deep and heavy and fun.  Finished the short day with some fun runs down Door 1 and Memorial F.  Around 1pm most of the lumpy looking muck on the front side was skiing pretty fun – for the COOMBAS anyway.  Have I ever mentioned those skis?

Other – As noted Ched Broc again (another never ending thing), no lift lines anywhere – season is definitely over for most folks.  Pay lot was bigger than needed as usual, some overflow towards C and a couple rows in B.  Great day, not many left at Crystal.

I had cheddar broccoli for the 1st time last weekend. Never again, it was disgusting, like eating a bag of salt. I was done with resort food before, the GF made me eat there and that's it, we're back to brown bagging tomorrow! Better be some good stuff left to ride.
