Le Plagne is a beautiful and vast area with a very stunning and spectacular alpine. My second picture shows the theme of the week! These slabs were all over the alpine from 25 degrees to 50 degrees. They all seemed to find the ground...There had been no new snow for weeks, and the sun was all day long with the daytime highs above freezing.
My third picture shows our route up to the Glacier Chair. We had started at Les Arcs many hours ago, and still had to ski down to the life running from left to right; up the long chair to the right of the rock ridge; down, and then up a long and old Gondola; and finally up the Glacier to nearly the summit of the main peak! The total distance from Les Arcs 1950 was 20 miles of skiing and riding! From the top of the Glacier Chair there were limitless possibilities involving nearly everything you could see!
My first picture shows Whistler like steeps, very reminiscent of Spanky's Ladder. Le Plagne is largely an intermediate area - but with huge skiing at the top end as well.
We did the big journey from Les Arcs 1950 twice out of six days skiing. We were amazed to see an eight passenger chair, along with the usual assortment of old and new lifts. On a powder day it would be unreal!
