Short report – very nice morning, you should have been there…Long report - Ouch! Terrible morning looking at the forecasts, telemetry, listening to the Crystal early report, thinking about wet, nasty, windy, heavy, nasty conditions…but my hamster treadmill on the snow addiction withdrawal symptoms were starting to give me the shakes – so short story drove up to try and get some turns while getting wet…Drove into the A lot kinda late – 8:45, snowing nicely, crowd already waiting in the Bucket line – lots of grief for me. Quick change, jumped onto an empty CHex chair (the whole lift was empty), slow ride up REX (all day running slow, no real reason other than dollars for electricity maybe today – timed it once, almost a 7 minute ride – lots of time to self contemplate life). No lift lines, no crowds, lots of snow falling all day – was 4+ deep on the groomers before anybody got to do them, and I assume they kept filling in all morning. Some of snow falling was nice and dry early, but other times it was pretty damp – goggle wiper conditions. But the snow on the front side of REX was nice deep, heavy, untracked, smooth from the Doors to M-World and filling in all morning. Patrol lady asked me why I wasn’t out North after it opened – cause REX was good enough for the hamster today - sorry. Anyway I expect good reports about North from a Fireman and a Baker and a Very “Wild” and crazy Silas. Fun morning the COOMBAS finally got out on the snow again today, they were very very very HAPPY! Spent the morning skiing and re skiing lines on REX in a total hamster world! Was getting wetter and denser during the noon hour, and the prime Gore-Tex gloves were starting to fail – so I quit by 1pm (but my new Arcteryex bottoms were primo – looked like they had just come out of a washing machine, but the inside was nice and dry). Snowing fun all day filling things in, nice quality late March Cascade Pow.

Other – Soup report looked like Ched Broc. Lucky part for me was finally “officially” meeting and riding up FQex with TeamWally – nice conversation and a nice meeting. Pay lot looked amazingly full, some overflow into C lot. Pretty wet at the base when I was leaving. Nice drive down and good conversation with a hitch hiking patroller – Christine? (bad brain on my part). Made me fill even wimpier than normal based on her activity plans this year. Anyway long post – sorry, but it was another happy hamster day.

Should have been out North that's all I have to say. Ask the Baker the ski tuner or the Grego.

Current telemetry and freezing level forecast had me considering a no go this morning, but knowing I'd be skiing with enthusiastic Emily kept me committed to the day. When it was snowing as we arrived, "you don't know if you don't know" came to mind and we enjoyed a few hours of boot top powder skiing in Northway on 2014-15 Rossignol Savory skis thanks to Martin and Shane's invite. Brand X had even deeper snow for a couple runs. It snowed all day above 5000' but got fairly heavy in the afternoon, and we would have to even call it rain below that. Good choice Mr. Hamster, several locals told me they stayed in the Doors with fresh refills every run. Despite the small crowd, Northway lines seemed skied out earlier than Wednesday. Let's hope the freezing level drops quite a bit for the weekend!
