Hammered in a quick 14 laps on the doublewide padded seats of the Silver Fir Express this AM. Upper 1/3 was firm at opening bell but softened appreciably before the rain started in earnest around noon. Got a kick out of watching the Webbski instructors executing a Chinese Downhill down an ungroomed Silver Nugget on our way up for our first lap. Best conditions of the day were along the cutbacks to/from Golden Nugget. Worst were up top directly beneath the chair. Snowpack seems to be holding strong for now, which is a good sign for the remainder of the season.
Crowd ebbed and flowed throughout the morning, but we never waited more than a few minutes to load the chair. Redcoats were out in force doing toboggan training which led to a few lift slowdowns and stoppages. Stopped at Aardvark's on the way out to mitigate the health benefits of this morning's workout - highly recommend getting a fried egg on anything. 90 was more lake than highway at points on the drive home - lots of folks with their wipers on but headlights off ???. WSDOT openly admitted to closing the pass more frequently due to spinouts and collisions than conditions and control work.
