I'm sure others will weigh in quickly, so I'll keep my report short. Everything froze pretty good overnight making the morning mostly groomer runs. Late morning, the runs out of the wind and in the sun softened opening up some off-piste stuff. A lot of the front side was a little heavy and unconsolidated when it thawed, but was good with some strong muscle input. The best run by our group consensus was Snorting Elk to Sluiceway and out lower Exterminator for a good top to bottom run off-groomed. Many repeats. Unfortunately, some of our favorites remained un-skiable like Bear Pits, the shady side of Green Valley, and Powder Bowl.
A nice light crowd today with lots of sunshine and big views most of the day.

And as noted more input coming fast….Pretty nice day, a lot better than expected, just about the right amount of sun, just nice enough early grooming to suffer till the off piste got soft enough, just the right amount of no lift lines (except for the bucket – at least one time that I didn’t do with the gang, spent a long time standing around after riding CHex and REX at the top looking at the big views of Rainier and the fog sliding through from the East – gotta say it was a pleasant long break). As noted the early morning groomers (Lucky and IceFerkBerg) were pretty nice smooth soft fast and fun. Lower mountain was warmer and softer today and what I heard about yesterday. I was somewhat nice and did a few top to bottoms mid morning – Deer Fly was very nice early, I only had to ride the bucket once during that period. HC was on hold for most of the morning, but opened up right about the early lunch break time – didn’t look good enough on the CB side and I’m pretty sure the PB side was not impressive. Did do a couple of BP’s runs late morning in the sun zones, nice, could have used a few more folks out that way. Spent most of the day pounding a ski line into SunnySide…could have also used a few snowboarders to side slip the pitch – but there were not enough of them around either today (dang!). So the new/old AfterShocks had to do all the work.
Other – Big Soup Bonus, a big full pot of Chicken Noodle and there were a lot of noodles! Great and everyone in the CB lodge heard about it! Pay lot was pretty good sized and equally pretty good sized empty at the end, except for 9 buses of folks my old age, some overflow cars into the C lot, probably just employees in the B lot. Nice day, lots of sun, fun…What would you expect from me?

A couple of speed runs on the smooth kept us busy till the softening started. T2Bs in the sun out of the wind won the rest of the day. Some pokes at the Frontside found snow too unconsolidated for aggressive skiing. The shade was an icy mess from monday's rain. A very light crowd meant no Gondy lines all day, and we never even had a full bucket. Future cooler temps look grim for everything. Hoping for enough heat on friday to get one more day in.
