The first version of today’s report…should be more opinions to follow….Would have been a great day in late April based on temps, new snow, perfect groomers, pretty good vis most places all day, being able to arrive late and still get the front of the free part of the A lot, super light crowds, no lift lines, nice soft spring quality new muck on the front side of REX….all in all a mighty fine day. Snowed/preciped a good part of the afternoon. Should have did HC early, but it was already on “WIND HOLD”? at llam???. Gotta say based on just looking at the telemetry I don’t thing it was wind, maybe it was just to “warm”. It was warm, everything, everywhere was warm impacted. Will be brutal off the groomers tomorrow if it gets anywhere near cold. Didn’t got to many places – ElkSortBowl to BearPits, lots of M-World, SunnySide, Showtime, Doors all fun with a new few inches of warm new snow. It will not be pretty if all the little snow balls and ski ruts freeze up for tomorrow. Groomers should be good.
Other – SOUPER big soup bonus, was hoped for, Chick Noodle, made me spend massive amounts of time having a bowl. Sad part was that HC was already on hold, looked good, didn’t see any winds – heard about a big slide down PB into the cat track for Lucky at the bottom – probably the real reason. Pay lot was reasonably normal sized and normally not very full. Some over flow parking into C lot. Fun day as usual. Fireman was on the slopes again after his week at Whistler (how was it Mike? I’d report but it would be second hand rumors). Snow depth on the mountain it primo, after the last week of giving the Coombas a lot of love (I do like my Coombas), finally today pulled out the “new/old” limited edition AfterShocks – they had a lot of fun today! Any real ski would have had fun today.

Second everything DDK said. Plus, Kelly's Gap (Sluiceway) to Lower E was a kick worth a couple of repeats. The light snow pretty much turned to rain at the bottom of REX around 1:30 making it an early day. Also heard from some folks in the know that Mechanical was the one to make the call to shut down C6 and it wasn't wind related. I suspect more problems with the chair. Can Crystal really nurse that chair along for several more years while they replace C4?

It's all relative. Compared to a month ago, today was great. Compared to last week, uh, OK. Compared to when the temps next drop below freezing, excellent. Nice snow everywhere although unconsolidated in the lightly skied areas and packing hard in the heavily travel spots. As long as you can handle the wet precip, it'll be good until the freezing level drops and turns everything into a stay-away zone. A big fun day and it was nice to have the mountain back from the powder and holiday frenzies.
