Today was another great day at Mt. Baker. The 8 inches of new snow was at least as good as yesterday and the lift lines were even shorter. We lapped Chair 6 from the moment it started spinning until our legs gave out shortly after noon. I'm not sure I've skied better snow on Baker than we found today. The day started off cloudy, but the sun broke through around noon and exposed aspects firmed up from the solar radiation.
Some notes on snow stability. There was notable soft snow sluffing in several areas. In addition, the skier I was with managed to break loose a 12 inch deep, 75 foot wide slide on a particularly steep, west aspect of Pan Face.
To my surprise there was a skin track up Mt. Herman and two lines skied down Herman. It didn't look like they triggered anything, but I'm not sure I would have been confident to be out there today. Also, we saw a skin track up to Artist Point.
