Crystal - 01/21

Another samo samo report - Hoped for at least as good as Monday, got a bunch more.  Pulled into the A lot behind a typically optimistic sized Pay lot at 8:30 (still was pretty empty when I left at 2:30 or so). Jumped into the third bucket (seemed kinda slow), low angle morning sun with high clouds blowing through – as happens many days, the stuff blew through and it was pretty much full on sun bake for the rest of the day.  Warm early, no winds, amazing amount of grooming – Lucky and IceFerkBerg on REX and from what I saw a lot of lower GV and FQex runs.  It was very nice grooming, I got many nice GV bowl and IFB runs. Spent some time chasing the Firemans crowd to the next fire, finally bailed out to check out other slopes.  A few PB and poking around the front side.  Managed to get into BP’s right about peak and then had another a little later, both very nice.  Front side probably got big around 11:30.  Finally bumped into Quick Foot (both feet seemed equally quick) late morning and had lots of fun runs on my Hamster lines and places I might have missed if not for QF.  Pretty perfect, no lift lines, nobody at all on the slopes (how many times have you paused at the top of a totally empty Iceberg and had the same situation when you got to the bottom). Riding REX and HC today was very lonely. 

Other – Soup at CB lodge early was Loaded Potato (forever), but it finally ran out and the second soup was that California Medley?  A few buses in the lot, Pay lot not full, and even the rest of the A lot was not full – ouch! So sad for Crystal, so nice for me.  Another nice day at the beach.

Yes it was a fun day at the beach, although trying to keep up with DDK was a challenge. Fortunately he had mercy on me now and again. He is the real deal. Top to bottom Sunnyside non stop. Whew. Fun to ski with the soup legend himself.

A great day to be in the mountains. Warmer up top than in Tacoma. Felt like spring skiing. Willy's Run was especially soft. Really great to hit some runs solo.

Note that Bandit took this picture a few years ago when he was a lift opp. Sorry I missed you yesterday.
