Nice day all in all, expected partly sunny, got high grey overcast to start – but as happens many days the sun and clouds were in the right alignment to make for good vis and soft mush on the south facing slopes. Poked around the mountain early – nasty Lucky and even Chicken shot? For the first run, checked the Valley – Bowl nice, a little work lower down, pretty much the same out SnortElk Bowl. Got a clue from folks I know and that made Lucky Shot skiing a lot better – lower Lucky Shot trees early were skiable and got a lot better as it got sun baked – thanks Mr CD. The run early was by far PB – first time up the rocks and dirt on top pretty impressive – second time better and after that the path was pretty easy to blow through the rocks and dirt…once in PB, pretty sweet smooth and fast – perfect smooth grooming. But with the warm temps and pretty nice sun line baking the south slopes the front side of REX was calling – pick your way through REX chair line, next run SunnySide (my most recent new line pretty nice), IceFerkBerk/Plunge very nice soft mushy mucky ski anywhere bumps! Rocks – they are out there, just use them as gates on a race course. Today was warm (maybe not Hawaii shirt warm for me like some folks I saw), nice, good vis, supper light crowd – what crowd no one on the slopes, another fun day like many others for Hamsters on a bump skiing treadmill. Except for my stuffed up head and blown out lungs…hate being sick!
Other – No soup at CB lodge – actually no food and no BEER! Somebody screwed up on the order. Pay lot – what can you say, rest of A lot not full, C empty and B had nothing but employees. Soup at the base was left overs from last week? What? Still a fun last day before the Powder Hounds finally start screwing up the lift lines in their frenzy – hopefully!....Looks like the weather pattern is changing – some of us could hope?
