Gotta say today was a random bonus nice day…Hadn’t planned on going based on random weather forecasts, but lucky for me yesterday was Mr Ferks B-day and I left the personalized candy bars (plus a couple of other items) in my current woodland stash…so to beat those dang Ravens and other critters I drug myself out of bed and headed up. Hhhmmm, driving up into the parking lot partly cloudy and sun on the top of Crystal Mountain – probably the typical sucker hole! Sit around in an empty lodge (none of the normal Thursday crowd showed up) till finally time to go, just a couple to many folks in the Bucket line so jumped onto the first CHex chair (before the bucket was loading), jumped onto the first REX chair with very nice low angle early morning sun. Couple of Lucky runs just to wake me up (softening nicely from the start)…Hamster mode kicked in – Sunnyside to Upper Memorial, nice and smooth and softer than yesterday, plus a few IceFerkBerg bumps runs mixed in. Thought I would spend the day there, but PB looked good enough (and had to check the soup), so a cycle there – actually felt better early today than yesterday (apparently a little rain shower blew through early this morning and it was just enough to soften the snow). Back to REX – another big lucky, bumped into Mr Ferk again – the chase for me was on and he took me to some very nice silky smooth soft snow lines that I probably would have missed – Plunge was one of them!! (Skier right of IceFerkBerg ), IceFerkBerg was very nice soft mushy bumps – ski the tops and there are not any rocks! Couple of CB runs in the sun were nice any easy. Quit early to socialize with a friend just as things started to get greyer. Great day – as usual. Dang – whats new, samo samo…boaring!
Other – Soup at CB lodge was Curry Coconut Chicken (or something like that – Jimbo’s fav). No crowds on the slopes, no lift lines, emptier than normal parking lots. Pay lot – what can you say about typical, not any cars in C lot, looked like mostly employees in the B lot. Pretty much another bonus private ski area for me! I’m praying for that big snow dump so that I don’t feel so lonely! Not! Sorry! Not!
