Aaaahhhh, Interesting day! Started slow and nice, with new snow to the base and no body in the lift lines – got 1st chair on CHex and REX – yee haa! Jumped into GV Bowl, vis so so, quads more so so, but every run in the Valley got better, there was new chipmunk waist deep snow early! With some what marginal vis, but as is usual for the Hamster crowd (me) it got better and better – till it finally got a little to wet even for me – The Number1 Hamster guy. Valley when you could see it, West Face – just cause I heard it was not nice enough (nice enough today), SortElk Bowl – one of the better options, skier left (did not do it enough to go further right). Grubstake Trees – after you got past the nice smooth nasty icy bumps at the top – I did my best to get those bumps into shape for tomorrow. Did a few runs with lift opp’s to the base of REX early, pretty nice and skiable down Lucky if you pick the fun line. Coverage is a lot better – visually anyway! And where I went, it was pretty nice all in all. Finally bailed out in a flat out rain storm top to bottom around Noon – gloves getting wet and I was starting to get a little wicking water up my B..tt c.k from the chairs…Ouch! Dang! Skiing was fun, snow was actually getting better and better everywhere I skied – but it will not be nice if it gets cold and sets up.
Other – Heard from the top lodge folks that Chick Noodle (real) was there recently – thanks Mellissa! Soup at the base was Minestrone again – dang for both me and Jimbo! Pay lot was pretty big today – and equally empty when I left ( should have bought lotto tix based on the pay lot), rest of the A lot was pretty full. Pretty much rain top to bottom when I did my last run. Might be challenging if not much new tomorrow or no grooming for that crowd.
