We arrived at Sun Peaks on the 18th and spent the night in their RV lot, P4, at 4600'. It was cold at 3:30pm and the forecast was for 7 degrees that night. On the 19th, we used our to 2 for 1 voucher and started skiing at 8:30am -- it was freezing!. We immediately noticed the snow pack was shallow. The snow in the trees was so light you could see ground cover and just a few inches of snow. The number of groomed trails was 22. The temperature in the village was 0 degrees F or -17.8C. Wow! We have only skied these temperatures in CO and at Cannon Mt. in NH. It was a day of 2 runs and hot chocolate then another few runs. The number of skiers in the warm café was bigger than those skiing. It was a short day. Skiing on the upper terrain was not good. I used my hand warmers and my hands were still cold. It was time to head for the Cascades.
The best skiing was at Big White and Silver Star, and I would pass on Sun Peaks until after the next big storm arrives.
