Gee, one day and a different world. Pretty cold all day, snowing pretty hard early, grey, foggyish, brutal non grooming on Lucky for the first nasty run – didn’t repeat that for a while. Spent early morning in GV, vis was decent and got better, micro new snow ( at least a quarter inch, maybe more in places) really can improve the quality of skiing when its on a nice styro cold firm carveable base…so all was good in the Valley. As the vis improved and I could see the Queen and PB, had to go. Wastnt perfect vis my first lap in PB, but the snow was good smooth and fast – still had an easy entry from the top of the HC missing 99% of the rocks. Second lap a hour later was even better with perfect vis and the same great snow. Thought it felt like it was getting colder, but might have just been the ridge top winds – blowing from a great direction to not impact the lifts or the Valley. Some sun, some blowing clouds, some snow flurries, nice views of Rainier, not many folks on the slopes as usual – looks like Friday will end my private ski area days. Rocks nasty in places, but didn’t take any new dings (ski route repetition helps – aka Hamster skiing).
Other – Soup at the base was Minestrone again (dang, though some like it). Pay lot very nice and small and empty, lack of parking lot attendants allow for screwy public parking and lots of front row spaces late. All in all a lot better than I expected. The micro new pow felt pretty nice under the AfterShock rock skis today.
