We spent the evening at 5600’ in the RV lot at Silver Star then moved to the visitor parking which is 30 feet from the Village and ticket kiosk.  We used our 2 for 1 tickets and headed to the one lift that opened at 8:30am.  At 9am,the other 3 express lifts operating: Comet, Silver Woods and Powder Gulch, plus the regular lift Alpine Meadows.  It was a very quiet day on the mountain.

The day started with clouds and became partially sunny.  The groomers were fantastic from beginners, intermediate and expert slopes.  The 2500’ of vertical is enormous.  The long trails were leg burners. With morning clouds overhead we skied the long tree runs.  Since our last trip here the big addition is the replacement of the Powder Gulch chair with a high speed quad.  The amount of groomed and ungroomed terrain is enormous.  I had forgotten about the steep treed glades in the ski area and the backcountry.  Most of the terrain is open.   After 4 hours of cruising we stopped and headed to the Aquatic Center in Vernon.  The Aquatic Center was the place for a sauna, spa, swimming (if you’re so inclined), and a well-needed shower.   By now we’re ready for a day off.
