Very nice day, brutal on the sun impacted slopes from the weekend, lots of sun, fun, good in snow north and west facing slopes, nasty on other slopes, very small crowd, fairly warm, big views, rocks but no worse than expected after the weekend crowd. Arrived to get a front row spot at 8:30, jumped onto an empty CHex chair at 8:55, beat myself up a little on the ungroomed early conditions on Lucky. Looked at PB – that’s where I should be…after a first slow and jerky ride up FQex finally in Powder Bowl – very nice carveable packed smooth fast snow. Wanted to do it again, but with FQex running funny decided to stay in the Valley for a while. GV Bowl and Snorting Elk were both very nice packed carving snow – and only required one lift to access. Spent the day cycling the Valley with runs up to PB all day. Tried to do IceFerkBerg at 10:30 – that was a mistake, tried again at 1:30 and it was somewhat better but there were a lot of rocks and still firm chunky snow. By far the places to be were PB, GV Bowl, Snorting Elk Bowl and probably West Face – someone else will have to fill that one in. PB was by far the best once I noticed someone else taking the easy line from the top of HC into the bowl skiers right…made it a lot more fun and repeatable. Only thing that would have helped today was a fireman to chase in PB?
Other – CB lodge beer supply is still looking good, not much else though. Base soup was a really big bonus! Chicken Noodle and it was very very good! Had a bowl at the end of the day after the lift closed. Looked like the A lot was mostly full today – did not notice that many folks…Great day, beating myself up at high speed in the bumps (and the nice smooth screamers in PB and GV) Yee Haa Fun!
