Very thin crowd but seemed like everyone was heading south, for good reason! A basin was rockin with cold, blower pow on the east faces. The King was spare wth breakable crust till mid slope but Silver is fantastic. Worth the traverse. Might get some dust tonite but still plenty of lines in Silver. No soup report, ate atSummit - treated my son and his friend who just moved from Vermont and was blown away by Crystal. I agree!

IMO the traverse was a little brutal though. Lots of rocks and sticks. Seemed to take twice as long as normal and be twice as annoying. I ended up just breaking out the skins and messing around under threeway because I did not want to do the traverse again. Past about 1, Silver was a ghost town, could not believe that on a SBC opening day there were so few people going out there.
South facing slopes off King into Silver start out nice but get a bit treacherous half way down in boulder fields. Glad they were rock skis.
