Boot top was to be had on every run and it just felt good to turn them down hill. Yes there was a line, but what the heck, a good chance to let the early season legs rest and to do some line watching. Ferk was in line and looked like a 20 year old that this 70 something SKI GOD is, Boss man Scott making sure the chairs were full ( good job Scott, you are never to old to become a lifty), I found the snow in Cold Face to be the best, all in all a good day one. I did not see many pros or Vollies, they must of been out North setting up rope lines and slepping boo. Going to skin around Alpy tomorrow, Good job Crystal, things looked good.

Good report! My long winded version - Didn’t think I’d be mentally up to going today if I was solo, but Mr Ferk called and made me do it. Thank you. Arrived around 8am – 2nd row in the A lot (3” new on the ground), jumped into the bucket line at 8:20 (got us into the 3rd bucket at 8:50 – close enough to the front for day two). Got to the top in nice vis filtered sun, dropped into GV skier right of center, all untracked and hard to tell that anyone had skied it on Saturday. Oh and it was lighter nicer quality over a compacted left over from yesterday! Sweet! Next half hour was pretty much racing to try to keep up with Mr Ferk – fun, but I noticed my legs from yesterday. Around 9:30 the lift line at bottom of GV was starting to build and the pace slowed down. Lines less than last years opening, but big enough to allow social time with all the folks that know Steve. After one comment about no singles line, it appeared magically, and most of the time it was the fastest route up – it did get long looking. GV was running slow (but mostly full at least), the ramp up is nastier then anything I remember, and was particularly bad for snowboarders – which allowed for a number of 4 singles getting loaded. Rocks are out there, little tree and grass tops are also everywhere, but not to bad (treat them like racing gates). I was on full on rock skis yesterday and decided to move my AfterShocks to the front of the rock ski world today and I was very happy that I did – only had one minor hit early afternoon. I sure like my AfterShocks, they were happy and so was I. Being with Mr Ferk stretched my day longer than if I had been solo – made it till around 1:30, just as the lift line was also disappearing in the fading sun light. Sunny faces got sun/heat impacted, lots of folks skied the front side and IceFerkBerk today, but both were still to iffy for me. Great second day, great better than expected bonus opening weekend. Ready for more.

Other stuff – Sorry no soup report, was mentally distracted at the end. A lot was full with over flow down towards C lot and a few cars in B lot, so it was a pretty good crowd, Crystal should be happy. Sounds iffy for a while, so back to other fall activities. All in all a great Yee Haa weekend.
