Very nice day all in all, better and worse than expected…less snow than recent openings, but quality was a nice boot top+ deep layer on pretty firm layer underneath. Vis was good all day (bailed out around noon – can only do GV limited options for so long – was nice, but..). Early line for the Gondy was pretty good sized, glad I got into the first bucket at 8:55, managed to get a number of nice runs in the Valley before the line started feeling big, but big was really only a few minutes – especially running solo and I acted like my weasel friends in lift lines - who were not around today(?). Lots of regulars and lots of employee friends (or at least those that put up with me). Lots of little brush in lots of places (and some rocks), but with the good vis and decent snow, it was easy to use the scrub brush like gates. Crowd started disappearing by noon – hard cores started heading out of bounds, others like me started getting tired. Checked out the food at top – pretty similar to recent years and maybe even more expensive, pretty much the same at the base – with custom “special” burgers for at least $11, soup at the base was something like smoked chicken tortilla with paprika? Started my soup harassment process – heard that Chick Noodle would be up in the Rafters!
Other news – new sinks and male liquid removal devices in the base restroom (low water usage types), no lockers anymore (at least in the restrooms – they have some in a “secret” area). Shish kabob shack looks like maybe half done, fire pit looks kinda nice. New bucket storage rack extension and covers at the bottom look pretty nice – cant wait for those extra buckets! Pay lot was totally empty and totally not there! A lot was maybe ¾ full, with empty spaces when I left. Fun day, nice to have that first day out of the way, sounds like tomorrow might be okay and then iffy days this next week depending on whose weather forecast is correct. Yee Haa!
