Last Day of Summer Skiing at Hood was created by RandoneeRon
Did as last minute trip down to Hood to ski on Labor Day - the last day of lift operations on Hood. Started off with some fog which burned off about 11AM, mix of sun and clouds after that. The top of the mountain was shrouded in clouds the entire day. Only two lanes were taken up by race training which cleared out about noon leaving the entire Palmer open to the public! Never waited in line or rode up the chair with another person all day, virtually empty! Donned the Slalom skis and put in 18,000 vertical - not bad for skiing in the northern hemisphere in September and a lot cheaper the Protillo! My masters racing buddy Franz Fuchsberger (aka Fuxi) was up at the top of the Palmer around noon serving libations in honor of the last day - nice way to end the lift served season, that makes 11 months continuous!
