Tough day to call, early morning cams looked kinda grayish, weather forecasts sounded kinda iffy on what might happen…oh well…what else was I gonna do today. Good sucker hole vis and sun at the Gondy base early – pulled into the front row at 7:45, finally jumped into the number three spot at 8:10 or so. Late upload – not 8:30? Lots of fun early, lots of smooth inch new untracked, with not many folks around. Sun/cloud line pretty much perfect early and till I bailed at 1:30 pretty much big warm sunny. Big repeater hamster line for me was the B! (Bit.ch) Grubstake – nice bumps early that just kept getting bigger and deeper and more fun as the day progressed. Elk bowl was nice and heard the hike and drop off Elk was good. Flats were getting a little sticky by the time I left (at least with my wax). West Face areas (only went out there once thanks to Mr Ferk finally suggesting it) was nice and lots of folks were over there. Crowd was reasonable today, some little burst of lines on GV, but okay. Lots of folks from out of area – Alpy and Baker and everywhere else folks – whats with the hard core Crystal skiers? Saw some and fun skied a lot quit kinda early to do chores. If tomorrow looks nice in the morning it will be worth it. Grubstake free falling the big bumps today was my hamster run of the day.
Soup report - ????? – talked to a few folks about that thread today. The A lot was full but a lot of those folks were tourists. Vis was big, Rainier was big, snow was nice...Wasnt thinking tomorrow would be an option – but maybe I might. Another day that told me I am glad I just don’t know how to quit and move on to other activites…..

Ditto on the conditions report, ddk. The hike up to the top of Snorting Elk was worth it - not for the bowl of debris below it, but for the lightly tracked lines off the north side of Grubstake point which served up perfectly creamed corn into the mid-afternoon. Lots of rocks and wood poking through - choose your lines carefully underneath GV up top and off the beaten path on the SnElk side. Lines heading back to GV from Grubstake are toast - don't go over there unless you love getting cliffed out.
Downloaded the gondy for lunch with a group of disappointed tourists who'd sat at a table in the summit house for 15+ minutes without a single server coming to take their orders. Hopefully I'll make it back up tomorrow - it's gonna be a tall order though as the last few days have been a doozy between biking, hiking and sliding.

It was fun though.

I agree, even though maybe the bumps were a little deeper and firmer today than yesterday? Since I wimped out this morning...I'll be waiting for the soup report. The one time I had a broken ski, I did not notice it till I was walking around at the base of Whistler in the village after down loading...I still have those skis looking at me in my garage. Sorry, hope they were still under warranty... Just noticed your post time Chris...must have happend yesterday? Those bumps were getting pretty big.WTF? They shouldn't break that easily......

both days were fun but todays snow quality was superior.
no elk placenta was noticed but the foxxs probably got the cleanup in order.
patching together doors was a crapshoot with a bit of brush hopping, done with the ttb for anything other than entertainment.
soup was coffee and beer and the taco truck was not busy. church lot was busy saturday but quiet sunday. lots of good people from the alpental lots.
