Winter at Crystal is now over and today was by far the best of the last 4 days. More sun, more good visibility, more softening of the south facing slopes. All that allowed for finally getting some nice runs down the center slide path of PB and BP’s (both nice smooth and soft). It was a little to sticky slow on the Campbell Basin side (and lumpy). A line was nicely skied out in Memorial Forest and I would imagine a lot of the front side of REX managed to get soft enough to be doable (but I didn’t find out). Biggest crowd this weekend but still no lift lines.
Other – Soup was Minestrone again (I asked if maybe they could order a little less next season or give it to a homeless shelter), other soup was Autumn Butternut (got a taste and it was good). Pay lot on its last day was not anywhere near full, C lot maybe 2/3’s and some cars in the B lot. So tomorrow and the most of this next week will be perfect spring skiing and as usual Crystal will be closed, allowing for natural slope smoothing by the sun and lots of solitude for the backcountry crowd.
