April 17, 2013 Crystal

The last forecast on the 16th was for a sunny day. At 6am the forecast was cloudy and rain in the late afternoon. We still have a few tickets and left. We arrived at 9:30am and were parking in the middle of the upper lot. It was beautiful when we left at 1pm. A cloud would miss the area and it was cool and sunny. We hit the groomers and my knee was not happy.  We laughed and enjoyed the folks laughing about their last run. Sunny day.

Good day, indeed. My initial worries about having miscounted my gold pass days were abated when I learned that everyone's passes had been deactivated after Sunday and they were issuing day tickets to both Crystal and Big S Gold passholders at the gates. While that'd be inconvenient on a busy weekend day, it was fine for today as the crowd was light and I seemed to be cycling the same zones with the same dozen or so folks all day.

I got up the Throne 5 times, once for a warmup lap back to Hi-C, twice on the way out to the top of the King and two more times for some fun lines I'd been eyeing for awhile part of the way up the King (I think Sasquatch and Pinball Chute, but I'm no local).

Sunny morning transitioned rapidly into an overcast afternoon, leaving the surface soft but quick and the south-facing aspects in the Southback safe from loose wet slides. Forecast doesn't look promising until the weekend, which is fine by me as my body drastically needs some rest after this last storm cycle.
