Interesting day. Tried to be good and pay attention to some of the various forecasts this morning….hhhmm Crystal report of partly cloudy, forecasts of rain approaching as the day progressed (maybe 11ish? or so), radar showing all the precip north and west of Seattle early, early morning cam shots from the top of REX lookin okay…Go, it is a Wednesday and not many left to do at Crystal. Drive into the parking lot at 8:30 – ouch what a big SUCKER hole (as some would say and I’m a sucker as others have noted). Big sun, big vis, big nice. Jumped into an empty bucket at 8:50, lots of dark grey just surrounding Crystal, hhhmmm – pretty big winds bouncing the bucket above a perfecticly ungroomed IceFerkBerg. First run, soft nice smooth Lucky and everywhere else nice soft mucky spring snow. Sadly the SUCKER hole did not last to long, wet precip by 9:45….stand around under a tree hoping for a break – nope, temps started dropping, some white slush falling at the bottom of REX, snowing wet the top ¾ of REX and in the Valley…(how many pairs of gloves do I have? – I used them all). Spent most of my very short day up in GV – one good vis run in the bowl very nice, mostly doing Grubstake Trees and the Bit.ch! Soft new go anywhere snow. Still pretty wet, but fun (really). Should be good tomorrow. Kept thinkin the weather and snow was getting better and looking at the cam when I got home I think it did (especially at 3:30, dang!).
Other – no Soup report, wasn’t willing to ride FQex in the rain. Pay lot pretty much totally empty and wasted, rest of A lot only had at some point two rows of cars – duh bad forecasts and smarter people than me, so nobody showed up today. Gotta say snow quality was very nice and up top the new stuff was fun – just wish my old ski clothes and gloves actually still worked (went through a few pairs of gloves) Saw one guy in a plastic bag – probably pretty nice, but he was pretty noisy when he flew by.
