Very nice cascade spring powder day – deep and heavy, but the pow hounds all showed up and in the core area it all got cut up very fast. Some early almost sun while waiting at the bottom this morning, but by the time the frenzy was in full throttle for most of the day it was filtered good vis grey with increasing snow showers (not to wet at least). I spent most of my day running REX – staying away from big lines on GV and HC, heard Kellys Gap was closed and that lots of folks where waiting for NW to open (it took a dang long time for that to happen). Once HC opened no real lines on REX for the rest of the day. Snow was pretty heavy and deep early (Coombas still told me they liked it), but the early afternoon snow falling was improving the conditions on the cut up left over REX slopes – best were some of the early Doors and the Pits I did and probably anything else. Got one PB run after NW opened and the HC lift line disappeared. Kinda wet snow falling at times but I managed to make one pair of gloves last all day. Conditions on the groomers seemed to get nasty as the wet new snow packed in – especially going from REX over to FQex on the cat track. Fun day as usual and I’m sure all the first tracks that folks got made a lot of people even happier than I.
Other – Soup was ClamChow (probably should have had some but did not have enough time), CB lodge was packed when I passed through (and the food lines were huge). Pay lot big as usual and pretty empty when I left, C lot pretty full, B lot ¾ full maybe, so there must have been a lot of folks on the mountain today. Good day

this must have been where the core group was today because alpy was quiet deep and open on time.

Heavy pow over a soft rain crust made for great spring/winter conditions. The crowd quickly went south to Six at 9:30, leaving Rex with zero line. Later got the buzz from Patrol that the North gates were packed, and we saw the C-3 line of waiting Ottobaners, so we kept to Rex and skied Frontside Trees all day. As the boot-top/shin-deep pow got skied out, the underlying crust was soft and carvable. Groomers were packing hard below 5.5Kft as we headed down. Snow fell all day, adding 2" of wet, velvety goodness up high. It was white rain at the base when we headed down. Gore-Tex dry on the inside, soaking wet on the outside at day's end. Great day. Will be interesting to see what lowering temps and overnight snow bring for tomorrow.

Arrived at the base around 8 am and there were still a few A lot spots to park. Lined up in Chinook and waited until upload started around 8:50. A few runs of front side started off the day. Snow was wet and deep. Moved over to exterminator and had a few untracked turns. Up to c6 and line was around 15 mins wait. Made two runs straight down the lift line and then dropped into PB followed by Pits. The morning solo runs were over. Spent afternoon with a beginner friend teaching him how to snowboard. Not a bad day to close out the season at Crystal. Will head to Whistler with family next week for spring break.
