What a difference a day makes. Dod and Silas made a few attempts at turns yesterday, and then called it quits. Much of Cowboy was sloughing, and rain soaked.
Today, Erik and I left morning sun breaks in Seattle and headed for the pass. We arrived in the snow and slush, and the snow never stopped. Free lunch and 75th anniversary book for pass holders was the cake. The snow-- butter cream frosting, all day. Needless to say, I had my cake and frosting and ate it too! Given the light crowds, many in retro gear for the RetroFools Day event, untracked stashes could be farmed all day. A Delicious Day.
While Double Diamond and 7th were closed all day for avy danger, and skiers right of Skyline closed by 3 pm, the colder evening temps may be enough to set that isothermic system up which means tomorrow could be even better.
Enjoy!

What a day indeed! Here's to hoping that boot-top deep fresh doesn't firm-up too much overnight - Mother Nature isn't fooling around when it comes to April powder!

Stevens was definitely better than we expected. I was afraid we'd get rain, or that the saturated snow would have frozen. Instead we got just the right depth of "butter cream" over the wet base, which had plenty of give to it. The depth of new was just right---more and it would have grabbed and glopped, less and no fun. Jessica was right when she said you could lay tracks all day. It's always a treat when the snowfall outperforms the forecast!
