Aaahhhh, one of those bonus days. Was going through withdrawal symptoms, so I had to go up this morning – raining slush at the bottom of the blvd, snowing pretty hard half way up and things looked very happy in the parking lot at 7:50. Jumped onto CHex at 8:35 still snowing but slowing down, looked kinda grey but towards the top of REX – looked to my left, my oh my the Queen sure looked pretty in the filtered sun. Very light early crowd – like no one around. Lots of smooth nice 4+ new soft spring cascade pow over a still wet enough and smoothed enough and just soft enough carveable under layer. Yee Haa! Oh, Sorry. Lots of places to go, I missed many really big ones based on what I saw and heard by the time I left at 3pm. Spent the morning tracking up the Doors and Pits with cycles in PB. Today was a be in the right spot at the right time day, riding up REX looking at the Queen in the sun, getting over there and it was maybe not so sunny, but when the planets aligned – Yee Haa. Nothing better than a smooth line in the sun. Snow showers kept blowing through and they got progressively heavier and (maybe) wetter, and it was noticeable on the slopes late. By the time I did my last front side of REX run, everything was looking like nasty ice balls – but lucky for me it was still soft wet snow balls, tomorrow might be a little different unless Larrys pow report happens. The Coombas were “telling me” they were pretty happy today. Had a great afternoon chasing Mr Ferk around the mountain. We should be getting some big reports from Scotsman and Joedabaker about big times out north (and hopefully a pic). Gotta say it was a very pleasant day – and only two pairs of gloves.
Other – Soup was Tomato Basil, pay lot was way to big, C lot looked full back to the shuttle load, some cars down in B. Never saw a lift line.
