March 21st - Blackcomb Kokanee GS Race Series

What better way to celebrate my 50th birthday than the wrap up of the Kokanee GS race series at Whistler. This was my first time back on a GS course since breaking my humerus at the beginning of the year. Couldn't have asked for better conditions. Day before had about a foot of Cascade Concrete fall on the mountain, but that night the temps dropped, some great grooming and course prep. Ross' Gold - 350m drop, 28 gates. Was the 6th person on the course, still a bit tentative since my crash, but held my own against those young guys (had to race the 40-49 year old class, as they consider your age as of December 2012....) Felt great to get out there again!!
