Closing weekend of Tamarack. Friday bluebird right off the bat. Upper mountain got about an 1" new and the sun made it a little grabby since it never had freeze thaw cycle. Lower mountain. Main cruisers got got to be thick by 2pm.
Saturday. bluebird again. got to the Tamarack parking lot at 9:05 to find a total of 12 cars. Immediately the whole mountain was excellent. Upper mountain was amazing around 10:30 as temps dropped to low 20's the night before. High speed cruising of bowls. Never rode a lift all day with paying public (did ride 2 chairs with patrollers). Soup = cold beer on mid mountain deck with shots of Permafrost.
Sunday - Brundage. another cold night before. Brundage does one of the best jobs of grooming and that is where you had to stay to start. Luckily they believe in doing a couple of trails again in the morning so those were fast but in great shape. The back bowls would've been good by 10am and the front side cruisers would've been better by 12:30 but I had to head back to western washington since it was Easter. 15 runs in 2 hours and only rode the high speed quad once with a patroller.
Tamarack is now closed, Brundage closes mid-April but often is open weekends until interest or snow disappears. They only got 55% of normal snowpack so may only be open 1 or 2 extra weekends unless late snow comes.
Pay parking? Central Idaho doesn't know what that is.
