Wow. This past week was da shiznut at Alpy.
Took Tuesday morning off and skied Chair 2 since there were ZERO lines.
1st tracks on Schluct and Breakover. Grade A quality snow for the PNW.
It was tough to leave at noon, but the sun did come out and start baking everything.
Showered and at desk @ 12:30 for a meeting at 13:00

Thursday was not what I was expecting. Woke up with less than a stellar report - rain crust below the top of ch1.
Took the whole day off so we headed up. Slowly got ready and then saw they were loading at 0830 on ch1.
I bailed on my wife and friend I drove up with. I forgot to pack my wife's boots, so she had to go rent some, and my other friend had to get a lift ticket. They were surprised that I was gone when they returned. ?????

Randy and I hooked up in line on ch2. Most everyone went down Nash - we got fresh turns on Schluct and epic firsts on Breakover.
It was fun to ski with Randy since we were able to push each other. I finally got to send Chakka Cliffs, not the hardcore way - but we did send the tree chute and the minor huck under the chair. We also were among the first few that got out after Nash Gate opened. The traverse was pretty hairball above the exposure - icy and narrow. People were turning back - and a dumb snowboarder was booting the track for some reason. He got sent home.

We traversed to Piss Pass and dropped in skiers right (Martin Bowl?). Our entire line down to the top of Elevator was a blanket of untouched pow-pow. It was an amazing experience - nobody else there. All smiles at the bottom.

Best day ever at Alpental. One of my best lines EVER. The vid does not do it justice.
