Stevens 3/19 was created by snoholic
Skied many aspects of lift served slackercountry today from Tunnel Creek to Wenatchee bowl and found some great conditions and some conditions that will make me a little more cautious the next few days.  Jumbo wind features and large areas of windslab were found near ridgetops. The winds seemed to be out of the Southeast transporting lots of snow to areas not typically windloaded.  Lots of wind scoured and crossloaded slopes on S and E aspects. Clouds of snow were blowing off the nearby peaks all day loading the NW upper slopes of many of the typical Stevens backcountry destinations. Some solar damage (crust) was also found on S&SW slopes. I was surprised to see so much damage after seeing so little the prior day on Snoqualmie Mt. (maybe I did not go high enough).   Anyways, it was a super fun day with untracked blower snow and almost nobody there.

Does the PNW have another good winter-in-spring skiing season in the offing?
