Get ready! Full blown big – really big – Marketing Report on St. Pattys Day! Gotta say today was one of the few big powder days of this season for me (at least since before X-Mass). More than expected, more than reported, more than the short handed powder hounds on the mountain should have to suffer on a Sunday in March, knee deep at least with lots of face shots in the cold smoke early. Great quality, covered most of the ice lumps and made for very fun left over powder pillows in the afternoon when the vis really opened up in the tree less areas. Early morning I spent in the Doors and Lucky Trees(!) and the Pits, was snowing hard early and there were a few mid day almost sun breaks on top – but at 2pm the sun really came out and the vis was great everywhere. Early crowd was pretty small based on the first real “unexpected” powder day in 3 months almost. Never any real lines other than HC (FreeRide comp was trying to happen under the Throne, so when HC opened up the chair was packed and the line was to big for me – so got another K2 run and sadly no PB’s for me today). Pretty windy early, but no impact on most of the lifts. When Northway opened what lines were around disappeared. Lots of bombs going off in South around 2pm, probably was big if they got it open – will be big for a lot of this week out that way for the backcountry folks! Very fun day, go anywhere conditions on the front side of REX, ready for tomorrow and more.

Other – Soup was Ched Broc again! White Choc Mac Nut cookies great again. Pay lot pretty almost full, C and B getting close to full, some cars in D and E – so it must have been a pretty good crowd. Taco Truck was serving food again this afternoon – but apparently did not get out early enough to sell any $2 breakfast burritos before 11am today. Would expect lots of Ogasmic reports to filter in about today at Crystal.

Lined up from about 7:45 am and got 3 rd or 4th  Gondola.
Very very nice skiing.
Went out South after 2...chest shots........... that is once you got  past all the CMAC moms dragging screaming kids along the traverse. Really, if your kid doesn't want to go out South...turn back. Must have passed about three moms with very small kids heading out there. No beacons, no packs...kids crying.

Had burrito from taco truck at 1:30. Very tasty but a bit overpriced...I could have ate two.
Orgasmic Meadows was so good we did it twice.

What a difference. Knee-deep, choking face shots opened the first couple runs down Memorial. Wind-loaded aspects were deep and deeper. We hit Gate 7 just as the rope dropped and were the first two down Employee Housing. Wow. Lots of easy-to-start sluff slides today. One caught Amigoette, knocking her off her feet. She butt-skied out as it went 100 feet down, ending in a 3-4 foot pile. It took a while for the Northway line to build while we skied two Penny Dawg's that were the runs of the day. Later Rex and Bear Pits skied out to great cut-pow bumps, but ice was getting more common. Ending the day with our 3rd E-Housing, it was just the 2 of us still getting untracked patches.

Didn't see a groomer or a bowl of soup, but might have been the goggle-coating face shots.
