Hit first chair at Hyak’s 0850 opening. 3-4 inches of new NW pooh was really fun to play with for the first couple of hours (albeit glute-cramping) even though the patrol scored 2-3 runs while the lifties were a body short. Tree runs Squirrel, Far Sol, Dollar Sign and Blowup were quite nice with lots of the narrow lines now filled in. Snow quality deteriorated pretty fast due to the high moisture content and warm temps so we switched to regular skis from fats at noon. All in all, a pretty darn good day. TomK & Kerry, and Chad.

First chair at Alpental was around 840, I missed it, but did get several laps in nice, creamy 4-6" fresh snow with occasional fog. Sportiva, Scarpa, Black Diamond, Dynafit, and Voile had demo skis and boots available with less than half the backcountry crowd of yesterday. Nash gate opened around mid day with 5-10minute lift lines on chair 2 and excellent soft foot deep powder with fresh lines available all afternoon. We did notice some 4-6" windslab slides on ridgecrests.
