Day started pretty challenging, kinda expected (and hoped) for a at least partly cloudy day, but as I pulled into the A lot the top of The King was disappearing into the clouds and by the time we jumped into a bucket sometime before 9am the top of all the peaks were hidden in what ended up being some pretty dang nasty white out fog conditions. Had to suffer a couple of GV bowl runs during the day because of Mr CD and also some blind screamer runs down IceFerkBerk (lucky nice perfect smooth grooming). Best early runs for us were over by BP’s – not great but you could see. Looked to be a really short day around 11am, but a quick ride up to see what the soup of the day was the thing that changed everything from bleak to another okay day. Sadly no Chick Noodle soup in the ice cold CB lodge (no heat, nice air condition though). But from there we tried Frisco down old chair 5 line – nice, packed cold snow, good vis – worth a repeat. But instead we did that run that does not exist anymore – K2. Very nice, good vis, steep (but not as steep as it was 10+ years ago). Okay ski life is was good again. Vis was improving, it was snowing harder, snow quality was improving. Still ended up being a very short day, on the road by 1:30 – ouch, but we went from a very bad day at Crystal amount of vert to a okay had fun, got the CD vert minimum for a okay good day and it relieved some of my with drawl symptoms from lack of skiing.
Other – Pay lot was absolutely MASSIVE for a Monday and it was equally MASSIVELY empty when we left…all the rest of the cars parked in the B and front of the C lot could have squeezed into a quarter of the wasted empty Pay lot. No buses today. Soup was Tomato, Beef Stew and two types of Chili. Special was 2 apples for 1 ? Might bring a apple tomorrow and see if I can get two in return.
