Crystal - 01/27

Surprisingly nice day, expected maybe three inches over nasty crust, but a lot of places had a lot more and any slopes that had been protected from the recent sun were pretty primo smooth under the new. Lift lines pretty minimal (at least on REX, far side of FQex and HC, don’t know about other lifts today). Some almost sun, some fog at times, lots of snow falling during the day adding to what is starting to become some pretty nice quality slopes. HC rocks are covered a lot better (not perfect but better). Watched a few of the big kids on doing big things on the King late morning – one almost got a very nice forward flip, so close, so big). Lots of happy folks on the slopes. Ready for a big one tomorrow, hope everybody has to work.

Other – Went in to check the soups at CB lodge, wow yee haa, Chicken Noodle (had a bowl and it was very good) plus they had Beef Stew and Ched Broc and two kinds of Chili – WOW. Place was packed at 11:30 – what a money pit. Pay lot was really really big and almost made it – another big wow. C, B, D, E all full with cars parked on the road, so it must have been a pretty good crowd today.

Again DDK ,and not to be a pain.But the forecast is for 2 -4 ......a big one?... Let's just stick with what we know....the mountain has been under performing the forecast for days now.So there is no need to even use language like "A big one". It will most likely be a small one, if anything at all.As for other peoples plans regarding work, well who is really to say.......but 2-4 inches......lets just say that, this is not a career decision.......Nice work with the soup though

It took 6 turns on Memorial to confirm that the sunny aspects were a keep-away zone. North-facers and shaded aspects (although no sun today as we dodged a thick in-and-out fog) had a surprisingly smooth, carvable base under boot-to-shin-deep new. Once I was conditioned to the crunch-to-soft ratios, quite fun. I don't know how the thick Luckyshot and Green Valley groomer crowd was getting up the mountain, as the lines were zero except for a 1-2 minute wait around 10:00.
A nice Cherry-Almond Cliff Bar on the chair saved time for 2 additional great runs in Bear Pits.
Not working tomorrow, and not skiing. Waiting for tuesday which might bring the biggest dump in 2 weeks. We'll see.

Bonus all around...M-World? kinda funny choice personally, Cliff Bar got you 2 more runs in the Pits....I wasted part of one of those runs and got a bunch more after 2pm...Big dump forecasts - hhhhmmm - gotta say I haven't noticed much reliability about that recently, maybe this time it will all work out. I think any day this week will be good anywhere. PS Mr eskinmo - sorry I didn't pre check some of the forecasts (kinda not worth checking most of the time, kinda like today) before I posted....oh well... I'll be happy tomorrow anyway and Tuesday somewhere and the soup was great (I dont like Cliff Bars.)

Very nice day indeed. Got lucky enough to catch the two runs down the King in the AM while coaching my son for the Freeride competition.

Gotta give a big shout out to the area and in particular the Patrol. You all did a really did a great job in helping the organizers create a great event for both the kids competing and the spectators watching. Thanks!!!!

Amazing skiing. Kids hitting 40 foot airs, shredding sick lines through steep cliffs and making it look easy. Really fun stuff.

Hit one more lap up the King at 2 PM for another really nice run down the next chute over from the comp (sorry, dont know the name, even after teaching there full time, doh).

Its only getting better!!

YUP, YUP on all the posts, I did get one every good run off of 6, BP rope line to PB, knee deep in the slot and butter down lower. Calling sick for Tue, this is going to be a big storm. Those kids on the KIng can RIP and their parents can stand on the sticks too. Good work from some very humble pro's in making the whole weekend happen, these guys can RIP IT TOO!!,
