Jan 22nd. Courmayeur was created by Scotsman
Decided to drive over to italy today and ski Courmayeur. It was snowing lightly in Chamonix when we left. Early birds again and we were in Courmayeur by 7:30 am after a short drive through the Mt Blanc tunnel. Found a cafe and stocked up on cappacinos. The coffee in Italy is way better than France.
Day was bluebird and the hill empty again. Pretty tracked out but we managed to find good snow off piste. Upper tram was closed due to the Freeride competition but it opened in rhe afternoon and we skied pow off the very top.
Lunch was in a place called zerotta's which is in an amazing setting below the Brenva face of Mt Blanc.
They were barbequeing a suckling pig so we all had that for lunch. I dig the swine.
More skiing following the sun as it moved across the hill. PNWBrit is doing the driving and I'm the navigator. We've told the wives to call us Maverick and Goose from now on.

Is that the place at the gondola mid-station? They do a lot more than soup there - we had pasta, duck breast, veal shank and mixed fruit tart, plus espresso and grappa.
Did you ski this after lunch?

The coffee in Italy is better.
Hopefully, the snowpack will allow the group to ski the Vallee Blanche down to Chamonix.
