After reading Tom K.’s trip report from Saturday at Silver Fir, we were surprised that it was cold at the base and foggy for the first third of the run.

The Silver Fir lift was loading by 8:45am, as was Summit West when we drove by. There was no lift line until we left at 10:30am – I’m getting spoiled with no lines. The Silver Fir area had 3 runs groomed from the top, and the sun was starting to soften the groomers up top. I had 6 runs and decided to call it a day. Jill gave me an old time look of ‘let’s do another run on Hog Wild or Silver Nugget’. This was the first time I’ve heard her say that in years. My knee was reminding me of our workout yesterday, and I went back to the car. But I told her to do more runs. She had already skied with our friends Hillary and Dale at Crystal on Friday, while I was resting at home after our climbing/skiing Thursday at Summit West. After 20 years of skiing, she’s doing great. Now I just need to get her to start breaking trail, but she says not to count on it!
