One does not have to buy the soup, merely report on what it is for the day...Jeeez you guys at our Central resort !!!!!No money left for soup after buying fries and coffee for $8 . . .

Awesome, it's true - the food at Crystal is great! The food at Summit sucks. Picked up an organic pizza for lunch at the North Bend Safeway on the way home. $7.

I think I've only been in the Alpental lodge near lunchtime once. With a sandwich in the pocket, why head all the way over there just to peek at a menu? Beers after night skiing - that's another matter altogether...

Exactly, we're too busy skiing to worry about it. But having skied Crystal I can understand why people hang out in the lodge.
Would add that last run of the day for me (~1430) was Nash>Widowmaker>along the rope>through the saddle>traverse out to Shot 4> Shot 5>deal with the giant cat track cut>Dom down.
Snow was great in general, lots of fresh still, until I hit Shot 4 when debris chunks started to appear. They increased in concentration closer to and in Shot 5 and were pretty frozen. Had to kind of pick my way down. Don't ski below the boo poles about the cat track. There's a traverse trail just above them. I took the lower one and though I may have looked cool the potential for disaster loomed for my aged body. If you are a wussy like me keep tracking left and there's a ramp right before the Traverse ends. If you aren't a wuss, jump it. You'll probably be fine.

Big problem at X-tal is all the dang high speed chairs with no lift lines and all the big hike to slopes all over the place...the only way to make it past 2pm skiing is to sit around eating big expensive food...ha ha...(only happens really randomly for me)....I'm sure the hardcore backcountry folks at Crystal will dispute that point (or needing to sit around)...but I'm kind of a lazy hamster in a treadmill sometimes.Exactly, we're too busy skiing to worry about it.
