Ski Conditions report –
Short report – nice new snow early, warming temps during the day, new snow getting heavier till it wore me out by 2pm. No significant winds while I was skiing. Good quality wet snow transition to hopefully colder new smoke tomorrow. Light snowfall on the upper mountain most of the day, with some sun mid day and good vis most of the time. Was raining at the base when I left.
Long winded report -
Got up extra late not expecting any good news from the morning report: temp 19 on top and pretty light winds…big rush to get out of the house…pulled into parking lot around 8:30 with big winds blowing ? Thought it would be later this afternoon. Oh oh all the buckets on the Gondy are parked at the bottom…Change, read the paper, CHex starts loading early, pass a couple of employees that don’t give me very good news about the expected conditions. Jump on REX moving pretty slow, but no real winds on the ride up, stayed up in GV for a while early in case the winds got worse and REX stops….nope no wind…started skiing REX. Far skier right Doors/Elevator shafts, head out to BP’s a couple of times, but gates closed even though the patrol kept saying it should be open. Couple of run runs down OuterFerks (Lucky Shot Trees) – very good. Finally got the ski patrol to open the gates and he mentioned that HC was running. So after fun in BP’s went up to HC – ouch running slow half speed – no wind on top (story line from everyone was really big winds expected so “we got to run the lifts really slow” ?) But as the “expected” winds did not materialize the lift speeds picked up. Skied skier right of HC, nice and PB was very untracked. Had lots of fun today again…duh! Sorry for so many words.
The not ski info –
Soup was Chicken Gumbo! One of my fav’s, I actually had a bowl and it was good (heard you can order some extra rice on the side – sounds good for tomorrow). Pay lot was way to big today and very empty when I left. The A lot did not even get full. Everyone on the mountain today could have parked in the A lot (including employees).
