Very nice unexpected kinda day. More new snow – 2 to 6 – much more sun, lot less folks on the slopes (and the lifts I rode), warmer on the sunny slopes led to nice spring soft conditions, shady slopes (PB, BP, GV bowl, CB towards the Throne all great with the new snow covering the packed bumps. Groomers I did early were nice and fast. Lots of nice bumps to beat yourself up in. Soups – BlackBean (BB) and Ched Broc (CB) from this moment on. Great day. A lot pretty full, all the bused showing up when I left, C pretty full and B about 2/3’s, pretty good crowd I guess. Heard rumors of really nice conditions for those willing to make the effort.

The sudden announcement of a change of this magnitude is shocking. No ,not end of the world shocking, but still, here we are not a babys breath into the new year and you drop this bomb on us. Soup will now be abbreviated.....the soup counter is still in total disarray with the departure of a true cafeteria legend, now this. Could you at least give me the correct abbreviation for Mulligatawny .......I believe you said that" those you put in the effort today were rewarded",and yet the full and proper spelling of a soup name is just to much........what happened in Maui....what indeed?

Stabilizing the soup menu may get the subject back to skiing. Those "willing to make the effort" were rewarded today. It took an hour to track out the Valley and the Plunge with the non-crowd this morning. The early Sixers left Main Chute and Center Powderbowl untracked for our 2 runs. Six was running at half speed so we headed north and were rewarded nicely. Paradise Chutes, Sphinctervilles #1 and #2 (seen no names for those tight lines down the center NW trees), Bruce's Bowl, Nose Trees were great. But Pucker's was the run-of-the-day (read soft untracked), twice. Or was it Employee Housing's untracked shady side? An odd combo of snow as just the slightest amount of shade kept the underlayment nice packed pow and a touch of sun made for lumpy crunch under the 4-6-8" of new. Until noon that is, when the sunny slopes turned to 4" of thick silk over a soft crunchy base (sounds like a candy bar). Unfortunately the Frontside frenzy left it in complete cut-slush disarray that will be most unpleasant once frozen. A little of everything today – January ski-school crowds tomorrow.

“Stabilizing the soup menu may get the subject back to skiing.” …. Sorry for the wasted part of these report threads that you have to read.…

“Those "willing to make the effort" were rewarded today”….I was talking about a little more effort than NW chair and the Bucket ride.....

“Six was running at half speed so we headed north”…. I asked about speed of HC, told it was running at 80%, which jived with my lap times in hamster mode up there….just gotta chill out a little.
