The sunrise from Monroe over the peaks was picture perfect. The half moon hung over my shoulder, and we were banking on blue bird. Yet, when we met K-root in chatteau d'mallard in lot F it was snowing! So cold today, the snowflakes were simply stunning. Perfect dendritic crystals with some of the most intricate designs I've ever seen. My mittens were filled with Bentley-style photographs. I couldn't take my eyes off the snow.
Stevens managed to keep the cold snow well groomed, but groomers were where it was at. We ventured off piste to show Kenny the area, and found formerly sun baked crud frozen stiff. Little softer and still puffy dust on crust on the north side.
We enjoyed the twinkling lights and the relatively EMPTY slopes til 6. Soup report: thursday night special at the foggy goggle is a tuna melt. move over grandma, it was excellent!
Let's talk temperature--and we'll put it in Celcius for Dod's sake, and to make it look even colder. It was -14 C out here today. "In the daytime!" Dod hollered.
We'll put in some turns tomorrow morning before heading home.
