The first day of East running the lifts, and it was a powder day. The group was small and with only 2 lifts I was suprised that after 60 minutes it was still rather quiet. The runs under both lifts had good coverage and the snowboarders were having a blast. This was day 7, and I just did the groomers which were great. We met a friend who did the traverse from Silver Fir to East and they found an area that was unfriendly/ unsafe! This Saturday we have our skier and boarder grandsons who are 8 and 11, and who have not been skiing this season. It will be fun. We rode the lifts for 2 hours and only did 7000vf and 7 runs. The temperature was in the mid 20's with some fog and a bit of freash powder falling.

'Twas a good day, indeed. I was shocked to see so few people in line for first chair but even more shocked when the first three laps were executed "chinese downhill" style until the surface was choppy enough that turning regularly became necessary.
The sun came out around noon in Hidden Valley, unfortunately that's about when everything had been trammeled into a packed state. Not content to leave early, I ventured over to West (which had also been closed since Sunday evening) and found lots of easy-to-get leftovers. In fact, I only crossed a handful of tracks my first run off Wildside and it was near 2pm! 360 Bowl offered up the goods until the legs gave out. I thought it was odd to see several folks skinning up that direction via skier's left of Julie's chair. My sincere apologies to the fella traveling uphill that I whitewashed, it was either that or a high-speed collision neither of us wanted. My extended apologies for leveraging the skin track in the flatter spots and turning across it a few times on the way out. These, however, are the perils of skinning inbounds at a popular alpine ski area - though I suspect many were just trying-out newly-acquired gear and weren't too put off.

there are no skintracks once the chairs are spinning.
